McKenzie Arnold is Proud to Partner London Notting Hill Carnival Enterprise Trust and Delivering a Safe Carnival in 2013 & 2014
What We Did
The Notting Hill Carnival is one of the largest street gatherings in the world. The event has taken place every year since 1964 on the streets of Notting Hill, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London, each August bank holiday weekend. The Carnival attracts over one and a half million visitors every year.
In 2012 McKenzie Arnold was awarded the contract for the supply of stewards to Notting Hill Carnival Trust, with only four weeks preparation before the Carnival after a complex tender process. Not only did McKenzie Arnold successfully fullfill all it's obligations to the Assignment. We also added a new dimension to Carnival by developing a stewards Communication Plan including representation in the event control procedure. This had not been done in previous years.
How We Did It
The key parts to this assignment were:
- Delivering a exceptional service with just a 4 week notice period
- Engaging more stewards in 2013 than 2012 utilising a smaller budget
- Supplying and managing 900 stewards over two days
- Developing a robust event management plan that was approved by all partners
- Event wide communications
- Representation in the Event Liaison Team
I have the responsibility for Security and Stewarding within the Carnival Trust and when McKenzie Arnold proposed the idea of GPS trackers I was delighted. Once implemented we had the ability to track and trace individual floats around the Carnival route. I was impressed as it worked and it didn't cost Carnival anything. The feedback from the bands was very positive. All in all a great innovation that assisted the overall stewarding and police operation.Lewis Benn, Notting Hill Carnival Trust
