In 2012, more businesses and organisations should be thinking about hiring a security company, London will be under immense pressure during the Olympics.

It's believed that London will experience its biggest ever security operation during the 2012 Olympics. Terrorism, crime and anti-social behaviour all need to be safe guarded against. And the security challenge is so huge that the Assistant Met Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur told the press that veteran police officers will need to be brought out of retirement to cope with the security challenge. And it raises the question of whether businesses should step up their security and hire a security company, London businesses outside of the Olympics catchment area could face a police-drain as all resources are targeted towards the Olympics.

Security Company – London Concerns

More businesses may have concerns over security as police efforts are focused on the Olympics – many may wish to invest in a private security company - London has a major crime and security issue as it is, without a major, global event to worry about. It's estimated that over 1,500 police officers will also be deployed to London from other parts of the UK, raising concerns that some areas may be under-policed or more vulnerable during this time. Security companies in London and across the UK are expecting a busy time to step into the police gap.

Security Issues on the Agenda as London Faces Huge Challenge

Most of the 5,000 strong police presence that will guard the Olympics however will be taken from the London region. Security personnel will be in huge demand during the period, with a rise in demand for security services from a dedicated security company, London and across the UK.

The British Security Industry Association told the Met that the bid for the Games underestimated the huge number of security personnel available from dedicated security companies, London and beyond. The bid suggested more than 6,000 security guards would be available – whereas they say the number is closer to 1,000. Previous Olympic Games have been targeted by bombers and the experience at the Olympic Park in Atlanta when a bomb went off and the untrained stewards ran away showed how crucial it is to have a properly trained security company – London needs experienced security staff and policing to cope with the Games.
