Potential
Risks at Events
Studies
suggest that the current worldwide issues have led to a increase
in safety and security awareness, not only at events but also in
our everyday lives. Security has certainly become the buzzword at
organised events and if you don't want to be left behind it is important
that you thoroughly research the type of security needed at the
next event you are organising. So what is Risk Assessment and how
will your event benefit from it?
Risk
Assessment is the process by which the security needs of an event
are determined. The security which results from the Risk Assessment
will be unique to that event as no event is exactly the same. The
Risk Assessment
will take into account the venue itself, the marketing and media
attention attached to the event, the high risk attendees such as
royalty, the size of the event, the location of the event and much,
much more.
The
Risk Assessment will also take into account all the potential risks
at the event and these may include:
Fire
- It will put checks in place regarding placement of chairs, aisles,
and access to emergency exits. It will also look at eliminating
any potentially highly combustible material.
Political
Activists/Demonstrators - This may be anybody with a grudge
against a company which is organising the event or participating
in the event and may include ex-employees or current employees.
Theft
Possibilities - If anybody has ever had anything to do with
a Trade Show they will have heard that they are notorious for being
prime targets for theft. Unfortunately theft has to be a major concern
to any event with crowds of people.
At
McKenzie Arnold Security It is important to us that our event
security does more than place "guards on gates", but
identifies the security issues that surround busy temporary commercial
workplaces, and seeks to effectively address those issues. If you
are interested in hiring an event security company which will conduct
a professional and thorough Risk Assessment of your event then please
do not hesitate to ring or email us.
